Since our founding in 1896, Palmgrens has consistently worked with great respect for both raw materials and craftsmanship. Our products are sewn primarily in vegetable tanned calf leather, a leather that develops character and patina over time. These leathers are tanned with vegetable materials and left free of synthetic finishes, allowing the leather to age with dignity.

Vegetable tanned leather, together with a genuine craft tradition, forms the basis for our production. This takes place in small, often family-owned, studios where our collaborations have lasted for generations. Our production takes place in Sweden, Spain, Italy and England. We work according to a local principle where we start from the product's technical requirements and needs, then proceed to source the leather from local tanneries. This way, we avoid unnecessary transport, support the local craft and minimize environmental impact.

By consistently developing individual products rather than launching collections, we are able to present an organic range where each product finds its place in a living collection. Our design process can be based on or influenced by a model from our extensive archive or take shape in a collaboration with an external designer, with specific knowledge of a new material or discipline. This is always done in close collaboration with the ateliers, where the craftsmanship helps us realize our vision.
